DIY Colorful Modern Resin Earrings

filed under

Have you all experimented with resin crafting? I recently got into it thanks to the Color Pour resin line from American Crafts. They sent me a few bottles of resin and colorant to experiment with and, while messy, it has be a fun new crafting medium to try. My most recent resin crafts are these DIY colorful modern resin earrings!

I found a few fun silicone molds on Etsy and combined the resin with colorants, confetti, clay sprinkles, and glitter to make a bunch of colorful and slightly 80’s inspired earrings. I couldn’t love them more!

Materials to make your own DIY Colorful Modern Resin Earrings:

The process for making resin jewelry is pretty straight forward. Just mix equal volumes of the resin and hardener and mix slowly for 2-3 minutes to encorporate and reduce bubbles from forming.

Once mixed, it is ready for colorant, confetti, glitter or sprinkles. For my earrings I wanted a color block look but with a portion of the earrring clear, so I began by pouring half the hoop earring mold with clear resin, then added in the colorant to the remaining resin in the cup and filled the rest of the mold.

For the sprinkles, I filled the mold first, then added in the clay sprinkle pieces. The possibilities of what you can add are endless! I just wouldn’t add any real food or sprinkles to the resin.

Once the resin is in the mold, it’s time for it to cure. Which to me is the hard part, because it needs to cure for at least 24 hours before unmolding. I am very impatient! Ha!

Once unmolded, you can use the pliers to add your jump rings and ear hooks and you are ready to rock your new resin earrings!

Now that you see how easy it is to make your own DIY colorful modern resin earrings, I hope you give it a try! I think you may just become as addicted as I am!

I love these! For the colorblocked ones, how did you keep the resin just in one half of the mold?

I just filled one side a little less than half way and then filled the other side. The did blend a little, but I didn’t mind. You could always pour one side and use a piece of parchement to keep it in just half the mold. Then after a few hours when it is less runny, remove the parchment and fill the other side with fresh resin to get a clean line.
