Do you have any broken or old taper candles sitting in a junk drawer? This skull candle craft is for you! I chose a pastel color combo for mine, but you can also go with plain white for a creepier Halloween look.
Simply melt down your candles, add wax colorants (if desired), and pour into the skull-shaped silicone mold. Stick on your little skulls in your desired pattern, and they’re done! Check out the full video tutorial.
Supplies:
- White or colored taper candles (broken ones are fine)
- New white taper candles (for sticking the skulls to)
- Wax colorants
- Glass measuring cup
- Skull silicone mold
- Paintbrush
Instructions:
Step 1: Melt down your old taper candles in a microwave-safe measuring cup. Be sure to remove any wicks or metal pieces before microwaving. I like to start at 30 seconds, check the wax, then continue microwaving in 15-second increments until it is fully liquid.
Step 2: Add the wax colorants in your desired colors (if your melted wax is white).
Step 3: Pour the melted wax into the skull-shaped silicone mold.
Step 4: Dip an old paintbrush in the extra melted wax, brush it onto the backs of the skulls, and attach them to your fresh taper candles in whatever patterns and color combos you like!
