Are they not just the most adorable napkins you have ever seen? I mean seriously! Let me show you how to make these simple napkin rings, and then you can follow along with the tutorial to fold the napkin bow and use your ring to recreate this beauty.
The Supplies:
- 1 sheet of 8″ by 10″ felt in your choice of color
- 1 sheet of gold felt (I found mine on Etsy)
- Scissors and fabric glue
- Napkins of course (these plain orange ones are from World Market)
Begin by cutting your felt sheet into 2″ wide strips appx. 7″ long, and your gold felt into 1/2″ wide by 7″ long pieces. You will need one of each (regular and gold felt strip) for each napkin ring.
Now that you have your strips of felt, use your scissors to fringe cut the edges of the regular felt on each side leaving 1/2″ in the middle uncut. See photo.
Use your fabric glue to attach the gold felt to the center of the regular felt to cover the uncut portion. Once the glue is dry you can fold your felt into a ring shape and glue the two ends together with about 1/2″ overlap.
Now that you have your napkin rings, you can reference this tutorial to fold your napkins into the bow shape and simply slide on your fringe napkin ring at the end before you pull out the bow “tails”.
I am really loving this new way to fold napkins and that hint of fringe and gold is just perfect! The best part is that because these are so quick and inexpensive to make, you can easily make them in different colors for each new party you throw! Sweet!
