To begin you will want to create a large ball (about the size of a shooter marble) of the leaf green clay and then flatten it into a nice flat round about 1/4″ thick. I printed off a four leaf clover image and cut it out then used that as my template, but you could also freehand the clover if you are more skilled than me!
Place your template on your flattened clay disc and use your X-acto knife to cut around the clover (or free hand the heart shaped leaves and stem). Once you have your clover cut out, work the lighter green clay into three balls each a bit smaller than the previous. Slightly flatten them and then thread the beads one at a time onto one of your eye pins. You will also use a second eye pin to poke a hole in the clover.
Now you will put the clay pieces on an oven safe baking sheet (with the eye pins still in place) and bake for appx. 15 minutes at 300°F. Once they have baked and cooled, it is time to assemble your necklace. Start by removing the eye pin from the clover and replace it with a jump ring.
Now use your pliers to cut the extra part of the eye pin off of the light green beads pin. You want only about 1/2″ of the end sticking out from the beads. Use your pliers to grasp the metal end about 1/8″ down from the end of the pin and twist around the pliers nose to create a loop. You will now have a loop on each end of the light green beads.
Attach the small bead end loop to the jump ring on your clover. Then attach another jump ring on the large bead end and use this jump ring to also attach the two ends of the necklace chain. This will complete your necklace.
Now since that was so easy and you already have all the supplies, make a few more for your friends! If you want to cut costs on this project, you could easily buy plain costume jewelry chain at the craft store for less (about $2.99 for 2 necklaces worth of chain) and even get rid of the light green beads and eye pins and make just a plain clover necklace. Since I am a craft hoarder, I actually had all these supplies already, but I realize that not everyone is as obsessed with craft supplies as I am!
