Ahh pumpkins, the harbinger of fall. Is there anything that signals fall’s arrival more than a pumpkin? And with pumpkins comes pumpkin decorating! But with so many DIY pumpkin projects out there on Pinterest, it’s hard to know where to start. So I have come up with a few new and easy ways to decorate your pumpkins for fall. But be warned, because these are no ordinary pumpkins, these are colorful fall pumpkins!
Just look at that pretty gold splatter! And surprisingly, despite how pretty they look, they are super simple to make.
Supplies:
- Faux or real pumpkins of different sizes (I used fake pumpkins so that they would stay up all fall)
- Colorful spray paint (I used Montana brands both Gold and 94 because of all the colors it comes it and its pretty matte finish)
- Deco Color Gold Paint Pen
Begin by spray painting your pumpkins. You will want to make sure to paint both the tops and the bottoms of the pumpkins.
Once dry, use the deco color pen to paint the stems of the pumpkins gold. Then in a flicking motion (you will want to do this outside on a surface you don’t mind getting paint on) flick the pen at the pumpkins to release the metallic gold paint onto the pumpkins.
Once the gold paint is dry (about an hour), your pumpkins are ready to display on your mantel, in a bowl, or wherever you need a little color fall touch.
I’m just so in love with how they turned out! That metallic splatter really takes them to the next level. Be sure to come back tomorrow because I am going to show you how I styled these pumpkins. And trust me when I say it is sooo good!

I've found them all over, but most of these are from the craft store or Target.

Which colors did you use? It’s hard to tell even looking at their color chart. These are adorable!

Hi Kara,
I'm not familiar with this brand spray paint—is it on all the shelves and I just never noticed? Thanks, Julie

I find it at an art supply store or online. I like it because it is a matte finish and comes in 100+ colors.
