Looking for a super simple way to Valentine’s Dayify a store bought cake? These DIY honeycomb heart cake toppers are such a simple project to really bring the love to your Valentine’s Day treats. While I used them on a cake, you can also make a bunch of small ones to add to cupcakes for your kids school party. And to be totally honest, this is about the level of crafting that I would do for my kids school party. Not that I don’t like a good party (because obviously I do), but I always tend to me running last minute with the whole school party thing. So if I can make these with one trip to Target, then I know I might actually make them! They are quick, simple, and cute, just like I like.
Materials:
-Honeycomb hearts from Target (if you are really ambitious, you can cut your own from this honeycomb paper)
–Hot Glue
–Wood skewers
Again, like several of my projects, this one is as simple as using glue. But just open your honeycomb hearts and use the sticky tabs to keep them spread open. Then hot glue a skewer to the back of the heart. If you want a fully 3D heart, just hot glue a second heart to the back. That’s it. No really. They are done and ready for you to decorate your baked goods. Pinterest eat your heart out! Hahaha! No Pinterest fails happening with this one folks!
Again, if you are really ambitious, you can purchase honeycomb paper sheets and cut your own Valentine’s Day shapes (hearts, arrows, bows, etc…) and use the same method to attach them to skewers and decorate a cake or cupcakes.
But these DIY honeycomb heart cake toppers are a perfect last minute Valentine’s Day craft. And when you can buy everything at Target or online, then you are golden. Right?!

Kara, this idea is awesome!! I picked those honeycomb hearts up at Target this week, even though I had no idea what to do with them…they were just so cute! Thanks for a great use đŸ™‚
