DIY Confetti Clock

filed under

Last year I made a giant confetti clock using paper confetti shred from Target and while the clock looked cute, the end result wasn’t really what I was hoping for. So I figured why not try to make a new DIY confetti clock, but with a different type of confetti? It’s kind of crazy how swapping one thing like the type of confetti can give you a completely different look!

For this DIY confetti clock I used metallic circle confetti instead of paper and boy does it sparkle! Plus it is super simple to make! Who else needs an extra clock around?

Materials for a DIY Confetti Clock:

Metallic Confetti (you will need 3-4 ounces for a 12″ clock)
Triple thick glaze
-Wood clock blank with movement (this is the clock I used, here is a movement, and here are the modern hands)
Acrylic paint for the edge (optional)

As I mentioned, this project is super easy to create. You will want to begin by coating your clock in a 1/8”-1/4” thick layer of triple thick glaze. Then sprinkle on your metallic confetti to cover the entire clock face. If you have a flat clock, you may want to use a piece of tape around the edge of the clock to prevent the glaze from falling off the edge. I used a clock face that I had previously painted that had a lip around the edge (it was origianlly from consumercrafts.com), so it easily contained the confetti and glaze. I also kept this lip confetti free and simply painted it pink instead for a little contrast.

When the sunlight hits the confetti the DIY confetti clock almost resembles a disco ball because colorful light bounces around the room. Now that is a clock that has my confetti and disco ball loving heart! DIY Confetti Clock

    Yes, I used 1/8”
And 1/4” confetti in my clock. The exact confetti I used was a mix I got from a manufacturer in China for use in my cocktail shaker and pillows. The link I put in my post was to the closest match I could find to buy online.

I used confetti I had on hand that I got from my manufacturer in China, so I can’t find the exact same mix here. But I used 1/8″ and 1/4″ round confetti.
