Did you know that you can easily give a new look to your plants without having to repot them? You don’t have to switch up planters to get a new look, all you need is a sheet of wrapping paper and some tape! To help launch a few new wrapping paper patterns in my shop, I created a few DIY paper planter covers using a few of my favorite patterns. Just look how cute the plants look decked out in the paper planter covers!

The Details

While I don’t have the full folding tutorial here with images, you basically just follow along with this tutorial I made for gift bags, but sub in the larger wrapping paper sheets.

For the top edge of the planters, you will want to fold down the paper 1/2″ to 1″ and then fold again to give it a sturdy top edge. For the grid planter I used a piece of pink paper on the backside of the grid paper when folding so that it would have a colorblocked edge.

Each planter bag cover takes about 10 minutes or less to make and only requires a few simple folds and two pieces of tape. Once made, just slip your plant in it’s planter into the bag and scrunch the bag a bit to give it that purposly messy look.

Watering Your Plants

Obviously since these DIY paper planter covers are made with paper you can’t water the plants while in the bag. Just remove them and water, then put them back in the bags once they have stopped dripping. I use them with faux plants too!

To take them one step further, you can laminate the paper at a teacher or office supply store and then fold and tape for a waterproof bag that you can actually plant directly into if you want!
