DIY Sunburst mirror

filed under

Remember how I told you the other day that I found two things from Goodwill the other day. Well, the first one that I showed you was the little chair that I painted yellow and teal.

The second was a bronze plate charger that was originally from Target and was being sold for $2.99. Now, it had some stains and there was only one, but when I saw it I just knew what it should be. A sunburst mirror!

Yes, they are all the rage right now in home decor, and I just needed one for myself. I bought the charger and headed to the local Joann craft store to look for a craft mirror that would fit. Lucky for me I was able to find one that was the perfect size! And after my 40%off coupon, it was only $1.80. Score!

I then proceeded to bring the supplies home, and after a week or so finally decided to spray paint the charger gold (which I happen to have on hand). I think gold was a good choice, but it was hard to convince myself not to paint it turquoise! I love me some blue!

After it was painted and allowed to dry, I used silicone adhesive (which I also has on hand) to glue the mirror to the charger. After letting it dry for a couple hours, it was ready to display!

The mirror measures appx. 14″ in diameter, so it is on the small side, but it fits perfectly on my floating shelf.

Total project cost: under $5!
