I am officially changing my home tour to Tuesday’s, because Home Tour Tuesday just sounds better. Today I am going to go into the details of my front living room. I guess it is technically the formal living space. But I don’t think there is anything formal about the space. It has a daybed after all!
If you read my post about my IKEA hack built ins, then you may remember the before of this space.
In its former life this was the dining room. The first thing I did was take down the chandelier (and sold it on Craigslist) and replace it with a higher placed pendant light from the Young House Love collection for Shades of Light. Since this area is in the same space as my dining area, I kept the wall and ceiling colors the same. The ceiling is Indigo Cloth and the walls are Rocky Bluffs. Both are from Valspar.
After the light issue was resolved, I went ahead and put a daybed in the room to create a division between the dining space and the living space.
I picked up this West Elm overlapping squares daybed off Craigslist. I fell in love with this bed when I first saw it online on Pinterest, but it had been discontinued. I kept searching on Craigslist for someone selling theirs, and lucked out after a couple of months. I used an IKEA throw to cover the mattress and added several throw pillows. The purple bolster pillows are from Target, the black ruffle one in the middle is from Ross, and the others are all from Ikea. The black and white graphic carpet is from Overstock.
Next came my coffee table which you can read more about here. It was a steal at only $8 from Goodwill! The hammered gold tray on the table and the emerald candle are from Target and the faux grass plant is from Ikea.
Last but not least are the window treatments, poufs, and fiddle leaf fig. The window has the same white grommet curtains from Ikea as my dining area, the poufs are from Target, and the fiddle leaf fig is from Home Depot (the pot is from Lowes).
As far as my built in bookshelf styling and knick knacks, they have been collected over time, but mainly come from my favorite places like Target, Home Goods, Marshall’s, Ross, and Hobby Lobby. Here are a few of the close ups of the shelves.
That is it for this space. Next week I hope to show you my office in more detail, but first I must clean and organize it a bit! Hope you all enjoyed a look around my formal living room.
