The Best of 2015 – A Look Back

filed under

We made it! 2015 is officially coming to a close and I felt it only fitting that I look back and remember my favorite projects from this first year of full time blogging. I had sporadically posted and blogged for the last several years, but after encouragement from several friends decided to make the leap into full-on blogging in April of this year. I am so thankful for the push, because I feel that I have really discovered my passion. Being able to share all of my creative crafts, DIY’s, recipes, and home decorating projects with you has felt so good and I am excited to see what 2016 brings!

First up is my favorite home reno project, and that happens to be my built-ins in my formal living room. I knew I wanted to put built-in shelving in this space from the moment we put an offer in on our house, and in January of this year we finally had a plan and time to complete them. I love this space so much and it turned out even better than I could have hoped. I love having the space to arrange and display all my little home decor goodies and it is even better to have a space to decorate for every season and holiday. I love my shelves! Below you can see them all decked out for Christmas, Halloween, everyday, and for summer with colorful artwork. Next up Valentine’s Day!

Next is my favorite cookie /baking project from this year.
The little ornament macarons that I made for Christmas top my list. It was my first time to make macarons, so the fact that they turned out at all was awesome enough, but I also loved the colors and the piping details that I added to turn them into ornaments. Everything about them just made me happy!

Next is my favorite home decorating project, which is hands down my guest bathroom. I can’t really call it a renovation since it was more just swapping out a few key features like the vanity mirror and light fixture and adding shelving and paint. But the transformation is one of my favorites from this year!

The space has no natural light and is very difficult to photograph, but trust me when I say that it was a total transformation from the bright yellow bathroom with builder grade mirror and light fixture that was there when we moved in. And that ceiling!
My favorite craft project has to be my colorful rimmed champagne flutes. I have seen gold and silver rimmed glassware, but never bright colorful ones. They make every party a little more colorful and are just pretty to look at. I may or may not have been caught just staring at how pretty they are sitting there in my bar area!

On the decorating for the holidays/seasons front, my idea to fill my fireplace with tons of pumpkins was my favorite. The colorful pumpkins of all sizes were so much better than that plain black void and gave my house a colorful fall feel.

That brings me to my last favorite for the year in the party category. I hosted Easter and Christmas dinner at my house this year and talked a little about my Easter dinner on here, but my favorite party and decor was my daughter’s Halloween themed birthday party on Halloween day. My paper fan decorations above the kitchen island which was filled with all sorts of yummy Halloween treats and snacks is going to be difficult to top next year!

Thanks for taking a look back at the year with me. You have to admit it was a colorful one. Here is to many more crafts, recipes, and DIY’s in 2016! See you next year!
