Craft It – Felt Key and Purse Tassels

filed under

You know how sometimes you get really into one type of crafting or material and can’t help but continue to use it in EVERY SINGLE CRAFT you do? No? That’s just me? Well, felt has become my current craft obsession. You may recall my felt heart sweater or felt confetti pillow or even my felt arrow napkin ring? Today I am sharing yet another felt craft with you. Don’t hate me. But after buying a plethora of felt, these simple tassels are a quick and simple project to help you use up the little bits that are left over after your other craft projects and they look great hanging from your keys or favorite purse.

Read on below to see how to make a few for yourself.

The Supplies:

Begin by cutting your colored felt into 1/2″ wide strips appx. 8″ long. Then cut your metallic felt strip appx. 3″ long. Like so…

Now layer your felt strips on top of each other and feed through your ring or key clasp loop and fold in half.

Then use your hot glue to glue the metallic strip of felt around the top portion of the felt to hold everything together.

Feel free to leave as is, or trim up the felt ends into a sleek angled look. Then just clip or attach your new felt tassel fob where ever you like! You can easily make 20 or so from 3-4 pieces of felt, which makes each little tassel only $.25 to $.50 each depending on which clasp/split ring you use. Not bad! I could just see whipping up a large batch of these to use as bridal shower or wedding gifts in your specific wedding palate. Or at the very least, an easy last minute gift for your gal pals for any occasion really. Because who doesn’t want a colorful tassel on their keys or purse?!
