This may be Thanksgiving week, but here on the blog it’s hereby going to be known as DIY ornament week. That’s right! I am bringing you 5 days of fun and colorful DIY ornaments. Woohoo!

To kick of ornament week, I am starting with a few easy marbled ornaments with the help of Flora Craft®. They have released their 2016 Holiday E-booklet complete with so many fun holiday foam DIY’s and I chose to put my own colorful, marbled spin on their DIY clay ornaments. Because these ornaments use foam balls as the starting point, you can get away with using less clay which makes them so much cheaper to make and they are super light weight so they won’t weigh down the tree branches either. Win-Win!

 

The Supplies:

• Colorful Air Dry Clay in a variety of colors
• 2″ and 3″ Foam Balls
• Rolling Pin
• Optional – Jewelry eye pins and ornament hooks

Begin by choosing two or three colors of clay and roll them into long log shapes. Then twist them around each other to create one piece.

Fold the log in half and twist again. Then use your rolling pin to roll out the clay into a large circle. From here, place your foam ball in the center of the clay and wrap the clay around the ball using your fingers to smooth out any seams.

 

 

Once you have all your ornaments made, lay them out to dry overnight, then insert a head pin and an ornament hook. You can also skip this step and use these marble ornaments as a vase filler too. 

I especially love the blue and white marbled ornaments, but the red and white ones are fun because they remind me of peppermint candy canes.
