It’s Friday! What better way to celebrate than by making up a batch of cactus Rice Krispie treats? My kids loved helping me make these almost as much as they enjoyed eating them. And I have to admit, they turned out pretty cute!
Cactus Rice Krispie Treat Recipe:
- 1 bag of mini marshmallows
- 6 cups of rice krispies
- 1/2 cup butter
- green food coloring
- crushed graham cracker “sand” for serving (optional)
Melt the butter in a large pot and then add the marshmallows and stir until melted. Add in the green food coloring and then add the Rice Krispies and stir to combine. Pour out onto a cookie sheet and with buttered hands, start for form the Rice Krispies into cactus shapes. I found the single straight cactus to be the easiest. For the saguaro cactus, I made it laying down, and then tipped it up when it was cool. For the final touch I added in a few gum paste flowers from the craft store baking aisle.
So aside from making this sweet cactus treat, what do you all have planned this weekend? I will be busy cleaning and organizing my home for a big photoshoot happening here next week as well as photographing all my new product samples that just came in for the Atlanta gift show in July that I will showing at. More details on both of those to come soon! I promise! Until then, happy weekend!
