It’s finally November and I can’t wait to share all the fun Christmas ideas I have with you, but first I have a few Thanksgiving DIY’s and recipes. I am trying to hold myself back from sharing everything too early, but I also want to give you all time to replicate any DIY’s that you see for your own home and holidays celebrations. So I will share a few Thanksgiving ideas, and then I will jump into the holidays with both feet!
These wishbone cookies are such a cute addition to your thanksgiving celebrations and are a snap to make! Hahaha! They are not only tasty, but no one will be fighting over the wishbone because everyone will have a chance to make a wish.
- 1 cup salted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 TBSP vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
For the colorful coating
Begin by creaming the sugar and butter together for a minute. Then add in the egg and vanilla and mix to combine. Add in the flour all at once and gently pulse the mixer until the dough just comes together. Using your hands pinch off a golf ball sized piece of dough and roll into a log shape about 1/3″ in diameter. Cut 4-5″ long segments and use two segments to pinch the dough logs together and into a wishbone shape. Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet at 350F for 8-10 minutes until they just start to turn golden brown.
Remove to a cooling rack to cool and repeat with the rest of the dough. Once the cookies are cooled, dip them into melted colored coating chocolate or colored royal icing and let the coating get hard.
Serve to guests that let them make a wish and then eat the sweet treat! It’s like a fortune cookie mixed with a wishbone and the perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving!
