Okay, it’s time to get a little cheeky here and think outside the the egg for Easter. Or should I say inside the egg?! Ha! I crack myself up. Get it? But seriously. These DIY fried egg place cards are such a fun alternative to a more traditional place card for Easter brunch. Just place one on each guests plate and line the center of the table with tons of egg gummies for a unique twist on Easter eggs!
Materials for DIY Fried Egg Place Cards:
–White polymer clay
–Yellow polymer clay
–Rolling pin
–Letter fondant cutters
-Oven safe baking sheet for craft use
-optional polymer clay sealant (for a glossy look)
Begin by creating a ball of white clay about the size of a golf ball. Then roll it out into an asymmetric fried egg shape. You may need to cut it with an X-acto knife to get a good egg shape. Once your whites are ready, roll a small gumball sized amount of yellow clay into a ball and then squish to create a domed yolk. Press the yolk into the white clay.
Next, use the cutters to cut the first letter of each guests name out of the white part of the egg. Place all the eggs on your baking sheet and bake at 275F for 15 minutes. Let cool and then coat with polymer glaze if desired. Or you can just leave them matte like I did.
Now aren’t they just the most fun way to decorate your table for brunch?! I can’t get over them! If you are really up for a crafting adventure, try using brown and maroon clay to create bacon strips and add them to wooden skewers for some fun bacon drink stirrers! Who needs real food when you have DIY fried egg place cards and bacon drink stirrers?!
