Okay, we are nearing the finish line of Easter, but I still have two super cute tutorials to share with you before this weekend. So I guess I better hop to it! Ha! This DIY rainbow egg paper garland is such an easy project, but will take a bit of time if you don’t have a electronic cutting machine. However, I made this garland without using my cutter (because I really need to get a new mat and all the ones I have wouldn’t keep the paper stuck to them! Ugh. Crafter problems.), so it is totally doable with just scissors and a sewing machine. And I am all about the rainbow eggs this year, so this garland fit in perfectly with my Easter dessert table set up!
See how cute it is with all those rainbow eggs?!
Materials for a DIY Rainbow Egg Paper Garland:
–Card stock in a rainbow of colors (I was able to cut 9 eggs from each 12″ square sheet)
-Scissors
-Sewing Machine and thread
Pretty small materials list there isn’t it?!
To being, draw and egg shape on a piece of scrap paper (mine is by no means perfect, but I tried to keep it around 3″ wide by 4″ long). Then cut it out and use it as a template to cut out all the eggs from your card stock. This is a great activity to do while watching a movie. I hear The Greatest Showman is out for digital download. Wink. Wink. As a side note, that movie has quickly become my families favorite movie, so I just want to share the love if you haven’t seen it. You need to. Stat. But back to the craft at hand. Once you cut all your eggs, group them together into stacks of one of each color.
Then, on the longest (basting) stitch on your machine, stitch the egg groups together, leave an 1/2″ gap and stitch the next grouping until they are all sewn together in a long strand. Then simply fluff the eggs by folding the paper outwards to create the 3D egg shape.
Use the ends of the thread to hang the DIY rainbow egg paper garland where ever you see fit! Now if I haven’t convinced you to bring a rainbow of eggs into your home this Easter, well, then I failed at my job!
