A few weeks ago my friend Amber from Dixie and Twine started painted a few walls in her house with fun patterns. I was so inspired by her walls, that I wanted to bring a little fun colorful pattern action into my home too. Because you know there isn’t enough color here already! Ha! I figured the perfect space to try out a colorful design would be the small landing at the top of my stairs outside the master bedroom. So I went and grabbed a few sample pots of paint and some painter’s tape and taped off a free form geometric design. Then I started painting this DIY painted geometric wall.
I love, love, love how it turned out and hopefully it will encourage me to sit and relax a little in the new nook.
Here is the before of the space after I removed the art that was on this wall.
Pretty bland huh? It also shows how much $20 of paint can transform a space.
During the process, I moved the chair back there to see how it would look. I didn’t keep it there while painting! As you can see I sort of taped and painted as I went. I didn’t tape off the full design all at once. But if I were to do it again, I probably would tape it all off and then paint. But I was impatient and wanted to get started!
After I painted all the panels, I removed the painters tape and painted over a few of the white lines to join the colors in a few spots. As you can see I also left a few sections white.
Since the wall pretty much speaks for itself, I kept the styling minimal with a chair and two pillows (one is mine and one is from Target), a potted plant, and a few colorful accessories.

Can I ask what paint colors you used?
Unfortunately I don’t remember all the colors, but I know a few were watermelon slice, ballet slipper, and pink mimosa by behr. I can’t remember the neams of the two blues or the yellow.
hi! i love this!!! i’m doing it in my room as well. can i ask how you did the curved edges?
also i’m trying to find your diy terrazzo headboard you had in the guest room blog post. do you mind sending me a link for that?

I just free handed it! You could make a homemade compass with a pencil tied to a string to trace a curve though. Then paint over it.
It’s amazing!! I loved it so much and I want to do it!!
❤️❤️❤️
I love what you did! Did you use eggshell, flat or high gloss?
I usually go for eggshell on most walls in my home unless I want a matte finish.
