Happy first official day of summer! Is there anything more quintessentially summer than snow cones? Honestly I am not sure if they are as big of a deal elsewhere as they are here in Texas. I grew up getting a snowcone at least weekly, so when I think summer, I think of a cold, icy, and fruity snow cone. Tigersblood is my favorite! When I saw these paper mache cupcake gift boxes, I just knew they would make the absolute cutest snow cone DIY snow cone treat boxes for all the summer parties. All it takes is a little paint, glue, and glitter to get the perfect snow cone look!
Materials:
The process for making the gift boxes is really quite simple. Begin by painting the base of the gift box (or the cup portion if you will) with white acrylic paint. Then paint the top with any color of acrylic paint you want for your snow cone. This color can match your party colors or an upcoming holiday like red, white, and blue for the 4th of July.
Set aside and let the paint dry. Once dry, give the colorful tops and thin and even coat of glue with a foam brush. Then sprinkle the diamond dust to cover the top. Repeat with all the tops and let the glue dry overnight. Once dry, you can fill the boxes with any little treats or toys to hand out at your party as favors.
I love how the diamond dust (which is essentially really thick glitter) make these gift boxes look so realistic. Just look at that sparkle! I bet you thought they were real snow cones at first didn’t you?! But now that you see how easy they are to make, I can’t wait to see your DIY Snow cone gift boxes!
