Last year I had the idea to paint pumpkins with mod 80’s style memphis patterns. They turned out amazing! One of my favorite Halloween DIY’s ever! So this year, I am jumping ahead and decade and decorating pumpkins with an early 90’s Halloween inspired pattern. This project is great for those of you without a steady hand and even kids, because it is essentially like putting stickers on a pumpkin. The only difficult part is that you have to make the stickers first. These DIY 90’s patterned pumpkins, are colorful and oh so fun for Halloween.
Don’t you just love the addition of the little ghosts and bats in the pattern?!
Materials for DIY 90’s Patterned Pumpkins:
–Colored adhesive vinyl
–Faux pumpkins
-Spray paint or acrylic paint (optional for colored pumpkins)
-These 90’s patterned downloads (1, 2, 3, 4)
-Vinyl cutter
Begin by creating your pattern stickers on the vinyl cutter by downloading the .png files above and uploading them into the cutting software. Then cut out the patterns from the different colors of vinyl.
While the vinyl cutter is doing its thing. Paint your pumpkins fun colors. This step is optional as the vinyl can be used on regular pumpkins too. The white pumpkin is a faux one that I left white and I love the way the pattern looks on it. So the create choice on this step is yours.
Once your pumpkins are painted and dry, and the stickers are cut. Just have fun and decorate the pumpkins with any color assortment and pattern placement you like. Get creative and have fun!
See? So seriously simple. But so much fun. And while you don’t have to have the ghosts and bats on the pumpkins, I love how it brings a little colorful playfulness to Halloween. Don’t you? Now tell me, what pattern will you create with your DIY 90’s patterned pumpkins?
