With school starting this week and September right around the corner, I can’t help but hang on to the last little bits of summer before fall and pumpkins start rolling in. These DIY marble handled marshmallow roasting sticks are perfect for those last few summer s’mores out by the firepit. A few colors of clay and some basic roasting sticks and you too can make your own roasting sticks to take your s’more time up a notch.
Aren’t they so pretty?! Fancy s’mores here I come! Ha!
Materials to make your own DIY Marble Handled Marshmallow Roasting Sticks:
- Polymer clay in white and 3-4 other colors (1 brick each)
- Marshmallow roasting sticks
- Rolling pin
- Baking sheet
- X-acto knife
Begin by rolling out your clay into long log shapes. Then twist and roll the clay colors together to create the marble pattern.
Once the colors have come together and started to swirl, roll out the clay and place your roasting stick over the clay and cut the clay with the x-acto knife to size. Use your fingers to wrap the clay around the stick and trim off any excess clay. Gently smooth out the seam in the back and on the top and bottom to create a seamless clay cover over the stick handle.
Place on a baking sheet and bake at 275F for 15 minutes. Then let cool. Once cool the sticks are ready to use as is, or you can give them a coat of polymer clay sealant.
If the marble look isn’t your thing, you can use this same technique to create any clay pattern you want. Just roll out colored strips and lay them next to each other to form a rainbow handle, or add tiny pieces of clay on top of rolled out white clay to form a terrazzo confetti look. The possibilities are endless! And if you want i
