It’s nearing spooky season, which means it’s time for some on-theme bendy candle DIY’s! I wanted to share two of my recent favorite spooky candlesticks: ghosts and snakes. If this is your first time bending taper candles, maybe stick with the simpler ghost candlesticks. But if you’re ready for something more advanced, these colorful, swirly-whirly snakes will give you a little extra challenge. See a video of how I made them right here!
DIY Ghost Candlesticks
Supplies:
Instructions:
Leave your candles out in the hot sun, or place them in a warm water bath (about 125° F) for 15 minutes. Gently bend into different ghostly positions, then add some eyes and mouths with a black paint pen.
DIY Snake Candles
Supplies:
- White paraffin wax taper candles
- Alcohol inks
- Sponges
- Mica powder (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Make a warm water bath (about 125° F) and soak your candles in them for 15 minutes or so, until they’re pliable.
Step 2: Gently bend the candles into snake shapes. (I love how the wick looks like a tongue!)
Step 3: Dab on alcohol ink in a few colors using sponges to get a snake pattern. You can add mica powder for a little extra shimmer if desired.
Step 4: Add on eyes with a black paint pen.
Display these along with your favorite colorful Halloween decor for a spooky-ooky (but oh so cute) look!
