Instead of the typical chocolate-covered cherries or strawberries, why not serve up a dessert for Valentine’s Day that’s a little more unique? Keep reading to see how I made these DIY cherry cookies. 🍒 Not only are they on-theme with their color, but I love that they always come in a pair!
These sweet little cherries couldn’t be easier to make. All you need is your favorite sugar cookie dough and a few add-ons. See the full tutorial video right here.
Ingredients:
- Sugar cookie dough (homemade or store bought)
- Chopped maraschino cherries (optional)
- Red and pink food coloring
- Coarse sanding sugar
- Edible fake grass
Instructions:
Step 1: Start with your favorite sugar cookie dough and add red and pink food coloring until you get the color just the way you like it. Add in your chopped maraschino cherries here if you want.
Step 2: Roll the dough into balls and dip in coarse sanding sugar. Place on your baking tray.
Step 3: Bake according to your recipe or package directions.
Step 4: For that finishing touch, add “stems.” I used edible fake grass, which you can add before or right after baking.
Serve up to your best gal pals, your family, or anyone who deserves a little sweet treat!
