I took a few of my favorite neon sign phrases and added in a few of my own to create these colorful napkins. Follow along for the simple tutorial (and Silhouette cut files) to how to make your own neon sign napkins for your next brunch or party.
- White Cloth Napkins
- Heat Transfer Vinyl
- Silhouette Cameo
- Silhouette Cut Files (eat cake, I’m hungry, right here, endless summer, brunch club, hey, yum, dessert first, fancy)
- Teflon sheet and iron or heat press
Begin by cutting out your vinyl neon sign words using your Silhouette Cameo and the cut files that I provided above. Be sure that you are cutting on the back of your heat transfer vinyl and that the image is mirrored so when you iron it on your napkins it is facing the correct way.
Once your words have been cut, weed out the negative space using a pair of tweezers or a weeding tool so that you are left with just the lettering.
Place your vinyl on your napkins however you choose, cover with the Teflon paper, and iron with a heat press or iron (on the cotton setting) with heavy pressure for 20-30 seconds. Let cool and peel away the backing plastic. Replace the Teflon paper over the lettering and iron again for another 10-15 seconds to set the vinyl.
Repeat as many times as you wish to create a whole set of napkins. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love these napkins! The colors are perfect and all the typography just makes me smile! They are the perfect way to get in on the neon sign trend with out the big investment.
Special thanks to Silhouette for sponsoring this post and providing me with a Silhouette Cameo. All opinions, ideas, and craftabilties are my own.
