Craft It – Neon Succulent Planters

filed under

Back in March I shared my mini succulent planters made from plastic Easter eggs and you all loved them! I still have my mini planters out on my shelves even though Easter is well past because although they are made with Easter egg bottoms, they are perfect to display all year. The other day I decided to give my mini planters a little neon summer makeover. Not that they weren’t colorful enough on their own, but with my recent obsession with neon, I decided to kick their color quotient up a notch with a few colorful rocks/colored sand and painted faux succulents.

The process is pretty much the same as my mini succulent planter tutorial that I linked above, but this time instead of using just plain potting soil and succulents, I used neon colored aquarium gravel/colorful play sand and spray painted faux succulents for a double dose of extra color. Full tutorial after the break.

The Supplies:

Glue your egg bottoms onto your marble tile, paint the edge gold with your paint pen, and then fill with your gravel/sand and painted faux succulents.

That was simple wasn’t it? I love the extra dose of bright colors, but that may just be me because you know I’m not afraid of color in the slightest. What do you think of the painted succulents? These are faux succulents, so there is no need to water them or worry about the paint affecting their growth, but I have seen several painted succulents in the garden centers of big box stores and am curious how it affects the plants. Let me know if you have ever painted a real succulent before! And be sure to share your Kailo Chic crafts with me on social media by tagging me (@kailochic) and using #mykailochic.
