The process is pretty quick and painless and if you have a sewing machine it they are a breeze to whip up. Follow along below for the full tutorial and see them in action in my mantel decor.
The Supplies:
- 3 rolls of crepe paper (I used fuchsia, light pink, and purple)
- Scissors
- Sewing Machine
You will start by cutting out your heart shapes from the rolls of crepe paper, then simply sew them together in the pattern of your choice pulling the last heart sewn away from the sewing machine to give a thread gap between the hearts.
If you don’t have a sewing machine, the you will use fishing line and tape to secure the hearts along the line making it as long as you need.
I ended up displaying my hearts in front of my fireplace, hanging down from the mantel. I just used some double stick picture hanging strips to hang the heart lines where I wanted.
As for the rest of my Valentines mantel, I filled it with hearts, arrows, faux flowers (both of the store bought and crepe paper handmade variety) and anything pink I had around.
I love the pink touches in my decor! And the heart banners really make the fireplace and mantel special. Have you put up decorations for Valentine’s Day this year?
