I love splatter painting! Nothing makes you feel like a kid again like making a mess by splattering paint. And when the results are as cute as these DIY color blocked splatter painted flower vases, then it is even more awesome! Plus, these flower vases are the perfect way to upcycle all those random glass vases you have laying around or the perfect excuse to hit up your local thrift store.
Materials for DIY Color Blocked Splatter Painted Flower Vases:
– Random glass vases
– Spray paint in a variety of colors
– Acrylic paint
– Paint brush
– Paper plate or mixing palette
Begin by cleaning and drying your vases, then spray painting them solid colors with your spray paint. Once the paint is dry, it’s time to get to the fun part of splattering the paint! In order to get a good splatter, you may need to water down the paint a bit. You basically want the paint texture to be thin but not runny. You don’t want the paint to run down the vases once you splatter it, but you want it to be able to fling off the paint brush. Once you have a good consistency and have tested it on a piece of paper, it’s time to splatter your vases. Just dip the paint brush in the paint and then splatter it on the vases by flicking the brush at the vase. Repeat all the way around the vases and then let dry fully overnight.
Once dry, fill the vases with your favorite flowers and display all clustered together to fully enjoy all color blocking goodness!
Isn’t it cool how the mix match of vase shapes and sizes when spray painted and splattered make them all coordinate and look so much better? My favorite is the pink on teal and the mint on pink vases. Which color blocking option do you like best?
