First up, mini funfetti pretzel doughnuts! Oh yeah!
These babies are super simple to make and are not only the perfect snack for National Doughnut Day (or any day if I’m being honest), but they make the most tasty and adorable ice cream and doughnut toppings. A doughnut topped with funfetti pretzel doughnuts? Funfetti pretzel doughnut ice cream? Yes please!
To make your own funfetti doughnut pretzels, simply dip round pretzels (the ones that I linked to will work, but I actually used all the round pretzels from a bag of Chex Mix) into melted white chocolate and then top with sprinkles. Let harden and serve. Simple enough, right?
Onto the doughnut craft, doughnut sunglasses cases! I simply modified my fabric sunglasses case tutorial and used felt and hot glue, so these cases are completely no sew. Woohoo!
The Supplies:
- Thick tan felt
- Icing colored felt
- Embroidery floss and needle (optional, for sprinkles)
- Hot glue gun
Begin by cutting out a large 8″ circle from your tan felt. Then cut the icing colored felt in a smaller circle (say 6.5″) with wavy edges for the icing. To make the cases look more like a doughnut you can cut out a center hole from both the tan felt and icing felt like I did, or you can just cut a hole in the icing felt so that you get the same look but with out the hole in your case.
Then it is just a matter of gluing your icing felt to your tan doughnut felt and stitching on a few sprinkles if you want. The final step is to fold the doughnut in half and glue 3/4 of it closed along the outer edge, while leaving a 3 – 3.5″ opening on the top for the glasses to slide in and out of your case.
So now that you are armed with two fun doughnut tutorials, you better get to work and make the most of this silly holiday! Doughnut lovers unite!
