My niece miss A turned two a few months ago and her mom asked if I could make her a cake for her Sesame Street birthday Since her favorite character is Ernie, I thought it only fitting to make an Ernie cake.
I used colored fondant to make the face, and it turned out quite cute! My secret was this puzzle mat:
I took Ernie’s face apart and used each piece as a template. I then colored the fondant pieces to match whatever piece of Ernie I was working on and used a small paring knife to trace around the puzzle piece on the rolled out fondant. I then placed the cut out piece on the cake.
Using this technique, I could very easily make most of the Sesame Street characters, and now you can too!
