If you are like me you have a ton of jewelry and could always use another way to store your stash.
Well, today I am going to show you how to take a plain white box and turn it into something worthy of holding your valuables.
To make your own tribal jewelry box you will need a plain box (obviously). I picked up this little guy in the Target Dollar Spot for $3. Also known as the “it’s so cheap and cute I have to buy it” spot.
You will also either need some small vinyl decals in a design you like (I would search etsy for something fun), or a Silhouette Cameo or similar vinyl cutting machine and some vinyl in your choice of color. I went with gray because that is what I had on hand, but I would have loved black too!
Next, if you are going to cut your own vinyl, you are welcome to use this template image to created your file. Or use your imagination and create a design of your own!
Using this template image I created, I tiled the image in my software and cut the vinyl to my desired size. After weeding off the extra vinyl, I was left with my design.
Next, it was just a matter of placing the vinyl stickers on the box top in the pattern I wanted. About 10 minutes later, I was left with a super fun little box to store all my goodies.
The vinyl I have is fairly sticky and I don’t think the box needs any sealing, but you could also add a layer of poly acrylic or Modge Podge over the vinyl to make sure it stays stuck. Now I am thinking of painting the interior a fun bright color. Yellow perhaps? This little box is also the perfect size for recipe cards or even feminine hygiene products. Wouldn’t this look cute in your bathroom to store/hide yours?
That is all I have for this quick and inexpensive project. Now go forth and Craft It!
