When I decided to start decorating this bathroom, I knew that I wanted to go with a dark jewel toned color with gold/brass accents. After several color swatches, I went with Indigo Cloth by Valspar in a flat finish. I went with a flat finish because it is such a small space. The dark flat finish makes the walls recede and almost gives the illusion of fabric. Painting the bathroom this color is what prompted me to use the same color on the adjacent dining room/formal living room ceiling.
After the painting was complete, we swapped out the toilet for a small water conserving toilet and had new flooring installed (the same laminate flooring as the rest of the first floor). We were able to go with laminate in this bathroom since there is no tub or shower, and the moisture risk was low. Otherwise, laminate is not recommended for bathrooms.
wall I hung up some gold and black sea urchin like pieces that I picked
up at Target. The mirror is so large and the focal point of the space,
that I didn’t want to put large pieces of art in here and distract from
it.These little sculptures work nicely.
I also put a small circular table (from Target) in here with a little box that I picked up at Home Goods to hide the flushable wipes and a brass crab (just because).
The back of the toilet holds a small gold and glass succulent cage that I picked up at Anthropologie and filled with a faux succulent.
The last piece of the Powder Room was this re-purposed candle holder that I am now using as a toilet paper holder. I found this little gold chevron beauty at Marshall’s and it was the perfect size for several rolls of TP. It is a great reminder to think outside the box when decorating a space.
