Bake It – Unicorn Candy Cane Cookies

filed under

I have one last cookie idea for Christmas that I wanted to share with you today, then I will be taking a break to celebrate with the family for the next several days. My kids and I were making a few cookies for Santa last night and we decided to make our traditional candy cane swirl sugar cookies, but with a slight twist. Instead of sticking to traditional red and white candy canes, we dyed the cookie dough colors of red, green, pink, and blue and made multi swirl canes. We even added a bit of fruit punch (cherry, pineapple, and coconut) candy flavoring I had to the sugar cookie dough and added a few sprinkles. The resulting fruit punch flavored unicorn cookies were a smash with the kids, and I have to admit I loved them too!

To make these super fun and colorful treats, you will want to make your favorite sugar cookie cutout dough. I used this one. Be sure to add a bit of candy flavoring (such as fruit punch or cherry) to the dough while it is still in the mixer. This step is obviously optional and not necessary. Now divide your dough into 3 pieces and color one of them turquoise and one of them pink. Then roll the dough out into logs, twist together, roll in sprinkles, and form into candy canes.

Bake at 350°F until just set and then enjoy the candy canes that look like they were made from unicorns! Trust me the kids will love them. Lets just hope Santa does too! I hope you all have a Happy Holidays and I will see ya on the flip side!
