I hate to admit it, but I love sprinkles. I feel as an adult I should have outgrown my love for the tasteless little bits, but the color keeps me coming back for more. I love the color pop sprinkles give cupcakes, ice cream, or even a bowl of oatmeal. Seriously put a few sprinkles on your oatmeal and the color suddenly makes it seam like dessert! But in an effort to grow up a little, I tried to branch out from my regular rainbow jimmies, and made tropical fruit sprinkles to adorn my latest batch of cupcakes. Seriously, why have I not tried this before! The tiny little bits of fruit are so much more flavorful than regular sprinkles, and yet still just as fun and colorful.
To make your own tropical fruit sprinkles, simply cut up teeny, tiny pieces of tropical fruit such as golden kiwi, dragon fruit, mango, and pineapple. You can even add a few figs or strawberries if you like. I had them so I added them in and the colors and flavors were just perfect!
Once you have your fruit bits all cut up, simply sprinkle them on iced cupcakes, your ice cream, or, yes, even your oatmeal.
Have you ever made fruit sprinkles before? Trust me that this is one easy dessert idea you need to try. Sprinkles that are not only pretty and tasty, but also healthy for you? Now that is perfection!
