Aren’t these just the best Halloween shots ever?! Perfect for a spooky laboratory party!
Now I am sure you already know that dry ice was used to create the smoking effect in these shots (how amazing is that stuff by the way!), but can you guess what the other secret ingredient is? It’s what is responsible for that oh so amazing swirly iridescence. Anyone? No, well, it’s edible luster dust used for decorating sugar flowers!
See it there? Just a pinch of this luster dust turns plain liquor iridescent.
Just look at that shimmery swirly liquid! Completely edible and completely amazing!
So now that you know the secret, let’s talk shot shall we?
For these swirly smoking green shots you will need green melon liqueur, a splash of lemonade, a pinch of pearl luster dust, and dry ice. Mix all the ingredients in a fun beaker like this one I found at the Target dollar spot, and pour into plastic test tubes. Be sure to add another small piece of dry ice to each test tube as you serve them for a fun effect your party guests will love! You can even use this tutorial here to build this handy test tube stand I used, and have the shots out for anyone to grab and drink (well, not everyone, these shots are for adults only!).
I seriously can not wait to bust these out at my next Halloween party! But if you aren’t heading to any Halloween shindigs this year, there is no need to fret, you can use the luster dust in any liquor to turn it into a swirling fun time. They also sell colored luster dust that can be used with clear alcohol to turn it both colorful and iridescent. Just see how pretty a little sheen looks in this dragon fruit martini.
Now that you have the secret, go out and create swirly cocktails to impress and amaze your friends!

Can I get the amounts of everything to make for test tube shots? Like a cup or 1/2 cup…….

It really depends on the size of your test tube, but essentially 1 shot of liquor, 1/2 ounce of lemonade, and a pinch of luster dust per shot.
