The great thing about this DIY is the it really is as simple as painting a bowl to look like a donut. The only trick is that you want to paint the underside of the bowl so that the top useable portion remains food safe. While the paint that I used is non-toxic, to avoid wear and the possibility of paint flaking off into the food, I painted the underside to make sure the inside of the bowl was completely safe to eat from!

That being the case, you have to start your donut with the sprinkles, then when that layer is dry, add on the frosting, and then the last step is to add the bread part of the donut. 

Once you have painted all your layers and allowed the paint to dry overnight, set the bowls upside down in a cool oven, heat to 350ºF, bake for 30 minutes, turn off the oven, and let the bowls cool inside the oven. Once they are cool, they are ready to use and wash like normal. I just wouldn’t recommend putting them on the bottom rack of the dishwasher.
