Forgive me now. I was officially completely over the flamingo trend and felt like I’m sure many of you do, that they had jumped the shark. Until I saw these mini flamingos at Target. I just had to buy them. And based on Instagram, so did a lot of other bloggers. So maybe I’m the only one that was ready for the next trend and ready to bid adios to flamingos. But, at just $1 each, they were just to good to pass up! And it turns out that they make the cutest DIY mini flamingo planters ever. You know, in case your planters need mini planters on them.
Materials:
-Mini plastic flamingos (these are from the Target dollar spot)
-X-acto knife or utility knife
-Small succulents and dirt (or go faux if you wish!)
First off, let me say that these flamingos come in two colors, but I wanted more options, so I used acrylic craft paint to paint one of the flamingos so that I could have a third color. If you feel so inclined, feel free to paint yours any color you want too!
So these are pretty straight forward. Just use the blade to cut open the flamingo’s back. Be careful with this step so that you don’t cut yourself!
Once open, stuff the flamingo with dirt and plant your little succulents in there. Then add the legs and add to your favorite planter for a little plant on plant action. No, not that kinda action. Gross. Just mini planters inside bigger planters. Totally a thing.
But maybe plants on plants is too much plant for you? Well, then take off the flamingo legs and add a piece of clay and a gold sticker and turn them into placecards for a fun summer shindig!
However you choose to display them, these DIY mini flamingo planters just seem like a no brainer to me!

Which one did you paint and what color did you use? I love the three colors you ended up with!

I used Melon from DecoArt but Bright salmon would work too!
