October is breast cancer awareness month. While I have been lucky not to have any scares in my immediate family, I have a few friends that have. I always felt like breast cancer was something only older women got. However, I have had friends in their late 20’s and early 30’s diagnosed. This goes to show that it is never to early to get mammograms and to check your self for lumps. This month I partnered with Treetopia to share how to make a DIY mod breast cancer awareness wreath. My hope is it will help spread the message about self exams and raising money for the cause.

How I Created my DIY Mod Breast Cancer Awareness Wreath

Treetopia gave me a pretty pink wreath and let me go to town decorating it any way I liked. At first I wanted to fill it with pom pom boobs. After making a few, I felt maybe it didn’t send the right message. Instead, I used my Cricut Maker to cut pink card stock to read “Check yo’ Self”. Then I tucked the cardstock onto the wreath using the brances to wrap around portions of the paper to hold it in place.

Once the words were on, I added a few felt balls and some black paper cut into triangles. I love the 80’s vibe it gives off and the cheeky saying that is remeniscent of the “check yo self before you wreck yourself” mantra. Pretty simple and so much more my style than some of the ribbon clad breast cancer awareness wreaths that are out there. Plus it helps drive home the whole self exams being imporant aspect. But if you are cheeky and love a little taboo. You can totally include a few boob pom poms in your wreath.
