I love making themed pillows to decorate with for every holiday. I mean how cute is a bunny pillow on your couch for Easter? This furry DIY bunny pillow is a snap to sew together and looks might festive hanging around your living room. Even if you are a novice sewer, I would try this pillow because it only takes a few straight stitches and looks adorable when complete!

Materials for a DIY Bunny Pillow:

• 1/2 yard of faux fur
• 1/4 yard white felt
• 1 sheet of stiff pink felt
• one large bag of poly-fil
• sewing machine, pins, thread, and scissors
• pink yarn pom pom
• hand sewing needle and thread
• Black stiff felt for eyelashes (optional)

Instructions

Begin by cutting the faux fur into two 18” circles. This part is very messy, so have a vacuum handy! Next, cut the white felt into four 12” tall and 5” wide bunny ears and the pink felt into two 8” tall and 3” white bunny ear shapes. 

Now pin the pink felt to each of two white ears and top stitch around the pink felt to attach it to the white felt. Next, place the second piece of white felt on top of the pink felt/white felt combo piece and pin around the edge. Stitch the two pieces together leaving a 1/4” seam allowance and the bottom open. 

Repeat with the second ear and then turn right side out. Fold the bottom of each ear in on itself to create a 1/2” overlap. Top stitch this seam. This will give the ear a pucker to help it stay upright.

Pin the ears to one side of the faux fur fabric as shown and then pin the other side of the faux fur on top of the first with the right sides together. Sew around the edges of the pillow with a 1/2” seam allowance and leaving a 4”-5” gap along the bottom of the pillow. 

Turn the pillow right side out and fill with the poly-fil until stuffed. Turn the edges of the opening in and hand stitch the opening closed. Use the needle and thread to sew on the pom pom nose and black felt eyelashes.
