File this under another easy way to add color to a store bought planter. As I mentioned before, I love planters and plants and bringing them into my home, but I always want to customize the planters I find at the store. Farmhouse style is pretty and all, but really not my cup of tea when it comes to decorating my own home. So I always find that a little imagination helps transform any planter into something more colorful and just my style. This DIY colorful hanging bowl planter was originally black and galvanized steel, but with just a coat of spray paint, it was instantly transformed from blah and neutral into cute and poppy!
Just look how pretty it is with its colorful makeover!
Materials to make your own DIY Colorful Hanging Bowl Planter:.
- Metal planter from JOANN stores
- Spray paint in your choice of colors ( I went with Strawberry, Pink, and Peach) Plus gold (Krylon Metallic Gold is my favorite gold)
- Scrap cardboard or tarp to spray paint on
Really the process is just spray painting the bowls and the hangers the different colors, then letting it dry, and reassembling it. Easy! Now, you don’t have to get the same planter at JOANN to recreate the look exactly, but this just goes to show you how easy it is to modify something from any store to make it fit your style. If it has good bones and an interesting shape, chances are it will look fab with a little paint makeover!
Love the trailing plants that I have in my new planter now and the greenery it brings to my gallery wall. By the way, have you tried the OTR cocktails that are on my bar cart? They are premixed cocktails that you just need to add to ice (hence the On The Rocks name). I have tried a few and they are so good and expertly mixed. I love having them on hand to easily make everyones favorite cocktail without neededing tons of liquour types and bottles. It makes hosting a party so much easier! (Not sponsored by the way, I just really love them and wanted to share them with you!).
