DIY Recycled Cardboard Tube Wall Organizer

filed under

This post, DIY Recycled Cardboard Tube Wall Organizer, was created in partnership with the Paper and Packaging—HowLifeUnfolds® campaign. Thank you for supporting the paper materials we crafters and creators need to bring our ideas to life! Check out the campaign on Instagram @howlifeunfolds.

I never knew how much crafting potential cardboard had until I really started to play around with it. Not only is it good for shipping out the orders from my shop, but I have used it to create desk organizers, ribbon storage, and now a DIY recycled cardboard tube wall! What is that you ask? Well, it is a wall organizer made from repurposed carboard shipping tubes perfect for displaying all your air plants, small gemstones, and other tchotchkes.

See how cute it is? You can recreate the look at home by following the tutorial below. Then modify yours with your own perfect color palette and size!

Materials to make your own DIY Recycled Cardboard Tube Wall Organizer:

  • Cardboard shipping tubes of various sizes
  • Acrylic craft paint
  • Hot glue
  • Paint brushes
  • Utility knife

Begin by cutting your tubes into 4″ thick slices using the utility knife. Be careful not to cut yourself!

Next, sand down the edges of the tubes to remove any cardboard fibers, then paint the inside and the outside along with the outer rim. Let dry. Now, hot glue the tubes together to form your abstract wall art shape.

Once dry, use 2-3 nails to hang the piece on the wall. Then it is ready to fill with all your little treasures! I went with a medium sized piece to fit above my cubby shelf, but if you are up to the task, you can make this piece as big as you like. How fun would it be to fill a wall with these painted cardboard tubes?

If you would rather, this piece can also be used to organizer markers, pens, pencils, and more on your desk too!

What other ways have you found to use paper or cardboard to organize your home?
