I’m nearing the end of my Halloween crafting and have already moved on to my favorite holiday, Christmas, but I still have a few more ideas to share with you if you need a little more Halloween inspiration. And of course I couldn’t let Halloween pass without a fun soap tutorial. These googly eye soaps are the perfect addition to your guest bathroom for your Halloween party, but they stay safely on the cute not creep side of things. And they are a cinch to whip up, so you still have time to whip them up to enjoy before Halloween gets here next week.
- White Melt and Pour Soap
- Spray bottle with rubbing alcohol
- Glass measuring cup
- Spoon
Begin by cutting up 1/2 cup of your clear soap base and a 1/4″ cube of the black soap colorant. Microwave in glass measuring cup for 15-20 seconds until the soap just starts to bubble. Remove and stir until the color is well combined, then pour into your silicone mold to form a quarter to half dollar sized circle.
Once the black soap has cooled, cut up the white soap into 1/2″ chunks and place in a clean measuring cup. You will need about 1 cup for 3-4 googly eyes. Microwave the white soap in 20-30 second intervals until the soap just starts to bubble. Remove from the microwave and stir until the soap is fully melted. Next, spritz the black soap with the rubbing alcohol (this removes the film and lets the two layers of soap stick together) and pour in your white soap. As you can see on the bottom of the picture above, if the white soap is too hot, it will melt the black soap slightly causing the streaks shown. Which honestly just makes the googly eye soaps more creepy looking!
Once the white soap has cooled for an hour or so, un-mold the soap and it’s ready to use. You can even package two soaps in a clear cello bag for a fun Halloween non candy treat! Now “eye” know you can’t wait to get starting soap making! Ha!
