Today’s DIY is really a pretty simple one, but it looks so cute! And since I kept thinking to myself, why haven’t I done this before, I figured there may be a large amount of you who had never thought of it either. This DIY colorful stacked book plant stand is easy (just need some paint and old books) and is perfect for elivating those small planters off the ground. Plus who doesn’t want a stack of rainbow books in their home?!
Materials for DIY Colorful Stacked Book Plant Stand:
-Books (I purchased hard cover linen books from the thrift store)
–Acrylic craft paint
-Foam paint brushes
–Wood glue or other strong adhesive
Simply paint the covers of the books with your acrylic paint. Depending on the colors of the books you find, you may need more than one coat of paint. Once dry. Use the glue to adhere the books to each other in a stack. This step is optional if you feel you might want to adjust the height of the plant stand at any time. But I figured it would make the stack more stable for holding my large planter.
Once the glue is dry, you can simply add your planter to the top.
As I said, I almost feel bad calling this a DIY, but I think it is more the concept of using them as a plant stand than the actual crafting that makes this DIY colorful stacked book plant stand unique. Anyway, I hope you are inspired to think outside the box and create your own! I also made a book plant stand with regular unpainted books that had pretty colored covers already (I just couldn’t bring myself to paint them!) and it looked super cute too! So there are several options when creating your own book plant stand! Now let those creative decorating juices flow!
