Hey, hey it’s September! That means its time to bring on the fall and Halloween themed crafts and decor. My daughters birthday is actually on Halloween and this year she decided she wants a Halloween and Origami themed party (she is in love with making paper diamonds). Random combo, but she is a kid that knows what she wants! That means that I now have even more justification for creating awesome Halloween themed crafts and treats and I get to share all that fun with you!
For my first Halloween craft, I am going to share with you how I made these fun black and gold tribal pumpkins. Because you know I am a sucker for gold and tribal prints!
To make these super simple pumpkins, or actually half pumpkins (btw, how great is it that Michael’s craft store sells these half foam pumpkins ready to decorate and hang on the wall?), you will need some foam pumpkins and a Krylon gold leaf pen which I picked up at the craft store.
I ended up going with three different tribal type designs. I made the full on patterned pumpkin first by looking at some examples of tribal prints and just kind of using parts of each that I liked. This one took the longest, but still only about 30 minutes to color. The next one was the horizontal banded pumpkin. I took my favorite part of the fully patterned pumpkin and just created an accent band. For the final pumpkin I wanted something a little different and went for a vertical triangle and dot print.
I also went ahead and colored the stems of each pumpkin with the gold leaf pen as well. Once they were dry it was time to hang them up. Since they are light weight, I just went with thumb tacks (had they have a handy little hanging hold in the back to make this process a breeze). Now I have some fun tribal pumpkins hanging out on my stair case. This is my first piece of decorating for Halloween, so I feel I need to fill out the space a bit more, but I love where it is headed.
My daughter loved them so much that she wants to try her own, so I am off to buy some more (and maybe a few white ones too). If you hurry they are currently on sale for 40% off, which made these only $4.79 each!
I can’t wait to show you some of the other ideas I have been working on! Let the Halloween season begin!

Thanks Heather!
It took me a bit to decide what to do too. I am so glad that I decided on this!
