DIY Terrazzo Acrylic Heart Decor

I have been having way too much fun creating new things with my Glowforge lately. Among all the drink stirrers and cake toppers and other valentine decorations I have made, I created this super cute DIY terrazzo acrylic heart decor piece. While it is super simple to cut a clear acrylic heart with the Glowforge, I realize that not many of you have one at your disposal. But no worries! I found an Etsy shop that will cut hearts from clear acrylic for you (linked in the materials section below). But if you do happen to want to nab a Glowforge for yourself, feel free to check out my referral link for a super amazing discount.

Anywho, back to the cutest rainbow terrazzo heart. I got the idea of using cut vinyl to make the terrazzo pattern from this Oh Joy tutorial, but what is great about this technique is that not only do you not need a vinyl cutter to do it, but you can adjust the colors and shapes and sizes of the terrazzo pieces to fit your personal preference.

To make your own, just free hand cut the vinyl into oddly shaped pieces of varying sizes, peel off the backing and place on the acrylic heart.

Place the pieces on the heart as you go and then just keep cutting until you have your whole heart filled with the terrazzo pattern.

That’s it! Not too complicated was it? I love that by using the clear acrylic, you can see right through the heart which makes it a fun decor piece to hang or to rest on a shelf.
