The post, DIY Toy Story 4 Reusable Fabric Snack Boxes, is sponsored by JOANN, the exclusive carrier of Disney’s Toy Story 4 licensed fabric. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep me crafting up a storm!
I can not tell you how excited my family is to see Toy Story 4! My kids have already become huge fans of Forky even though we haven’t seen the movie yet. Needless to say they are ready for all things Toy Story 4.
If you follow me on social media, you may already know that one of our family summer traditions is to go out to the drive-in movie theater that is about 30 minutes from our house. This theater shows first run movies the day they come out and lets you bring in all your own snacks, so we love to load up on candy, popcorn, and other movie treats to snack on while we are there. To celebrate our outing to see Toy Story 4 at the drive-in, I whipped up a few popcorn and snack boxes using the Toy Story 4 fabric available exclusively at JOANN.
Aren’t they cute?! And no, I’m not just talking about my kids. Ha! But seriously, my kids where fighting over the popcorn boxes when I was making them and have already decided who gets which one.
Not only are these snack boxes perfect for outdoor movie watching, they are reusable and can be used for a home movie night or even as organizers for your kids room. Bonus, there is no sewing required to make them!
Materials to make your own DIY Toy Story 4 Reusable Fabric Snack Boxes:
- 1/3 yard of Toy Story 4 Licensed Fabric (makes one snack box)
- One roll of Vinyl Fuse
- 1/3 yard of Craft Fuse
- Iron
- Hot Glue
- 1/3 yard of cotton fabric for the lining (optional)
- This popcorn box cut file
- Cricut maker with rotary blade and cutting mat
Instructions
Begin by cutting the fabric, craft fuse, and vinyl fuse into 12″ wide by 20″ long pieces. Next, iron the craft fuse on to the back of the Toy Story 4 fabric with your iron. Once fused and cooled, it’s time to attach the vinyl fuse. To do this, peel off the vinyl from the paper backing and place tacky side down on the printed side of the fabric. Place the paper backing over the vinyl and iron according to the package directions to melt and adhere the vinyl to the fabric. This creates a wipeable surface that keeps the fabric looking fresh and makes the snack boxes easy to clean.
Once you have the outer fabric fused and coated in vinyl, you can repeat the process with a lining fabric if desired. Then use a piece of 12″ by 20″ Heat n Bond to attach the Toy Story 4 fabric to the lining fabric making sure right sides are out.
Once you have your vinyl coated layered fabric, it is time to cut out the box shape. If you have a Cricut maker with a rotary blade, the process is really simple. Just download the template and upload it into the Cricut design space. Then scale it up to at least 10″ wide.
Place your fabric on the cutting mat and cut out the popcorn box on a high pressure denim setting.
Once cut, remove the cut popcorn box from the mat and fold on the seams shown below. Then use the hot glue gun to attach the bottom and sides of the box.
The Results
Once glued, your box is ready to use. Since we coated the fabric in vinyl, it prevents it from fraying like normal cut cotton would, so there is no need to fray check the ends.
Now all that is left is to pop some popcorn and head out to see Toy Story 4! We can’t wait!
