DIY Splatter Painted Halloween Pillow

filed under

I’m nearing the end of my Halloween crafting for the year, but still have two more ideas. Today I am sharing this super easy DIY splatter painted Halloween pillow. Now, I will say that this pillow was very difficult to photograph and capture all its beauty. It looks so much cuter in person than it does in these pictures, but you have to trust me that this is a craft you will want to try.

I went with my go to Halloween color palette of oranges, pinks, turquoise, and black. But you can make this pillow with just orange splatters or with red (to mimic blood) if you are feeling really grotesque.

Materials to make your own DIY Splatter Painted Halloween Pillow:

Begin by watering down your paint in the plastic cups at a ratio of 3 parts paint to 1 part water. You want the paint to be liquid enough to splatter nicely onto the pillow case.

Once you have the paint watered down, lay out your pillow case on the ground (either a covered surface outside or just on the grass) and use the popsicle sticks to pick up a bit of the paint and flick it out onto the pillow case. Do this with all the colors to cover your pillow case.

Let the pillow case dry in the sun, then you can add your pillow insert and display the new pillow on your sofa or chair for Halloween.

Now you might be saying that this doesn’t really look like an exclusive Halloween pillow, and you’re right. This pillow could really be out all year long. But it went so well with my other Halloween pillows, that it has now become a part of the bunch. Next I am going to try the splatters of neon paint on a black pillow. I bet that will be so pretty, don’t you think?!
