It is the gift that keeps on giving! Metallic fringe that is! I made this DIY colorful fringe moon halloween decor out of the leftovers of the easy fringe party backdrop from eariler this year. Not only that I have also used the remnants to make a few fringe pillows and fringe tassels! So many reuses for something that could have just been trash!
But enough about that! It is officially my first Halloween DIY of the season! Happy September 1st, were the weather is still hot (at least here in Texas), but the pumpkin spice is flowing and I am jumping both feet first into Halloween decor and crafts!
This DIY colorful fringe moon halloween decor has all my favorite qualities. It’s giant, it is sparkly, and it is colorful! Just add a few paper bats and it takes center stage!
It is hard to capture the magical 3D sparkly nature of it, but trust me, it’s a must make!
Materials to make your own DIY Colorful Fringe Moon Halloween Wall Decor:
- Metallic fringe in your choice of colors (I used aquamarine, fuchsia, baby pink, rose gold, silver, red, and gold for my backdrop)
- Thin duct tape or masking tape
- Foam core sheet
- Utility knife
Begin by cutting your foam core into a crecent moon shape. You can freehand this or print out a giant crecent moon template.
Next, simply cut the fringe into 8″ long sections, then tape across the middle. Fold the tape in half and then use another strip of tape to adhere the fringe trim to the foam core moon cutout. Start and the bottom and work your way up the top of the moon. Then trim off any extra fringe to shape the moon. Then hang with a thumbtack or mounting tape.

Hello, did you cut all the fringe off the main strip, mix them up, and then stick them to tape to remake the fringe? Please, let me know! I plan on doing this for Halloween in the middle of a huge round mirror that I have. I love this!!
