If you’ve seen any of my recent DIY reels on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m obsessed with making things with disco tiles. I decided to try crafting a jumbo DIY pink disco bow, and it turned out so cute! It’s so Barbie, right? And this bow fits in perfectly with all my hot pink and red Valentine’s Day decor.
Don’t be intimidated by the process. There are a lot of steps, but I’m going to walk you through it one at a time. Luckily, the materials are inexpensive and easy to work with. Here’s how to create your own pink disco bow for Valentine’s Day! Check out the full DIY video here.
Supplies:
- Foam core
- Pencil
- Utility knife
- Pink acrylic paint
- Disco tiles
- Pink alcohol ink
- Makeup sponge
- Small disco ball for center of bow
Instructions:
Step 1: Draw or trace your bow pattern on a piece of foam core. Cut it out with your utility knife.
Step 2: Paint your bow with the pink craft paint.
Step 3: Use the makeup sponge to apply the pink alcohol ink to your disco tiles. Let them dry for at least 10 minutes.
Step 4: Appy your tiles to the foam core, covering the whole surface of the bow. You can cut them off in sections, then peel and stick them on.
Step 5: Cut your styrofoam disco ball in half (it should match the size of the bow), and dye it pink using the alcohol ink.
Step 6: Hot glue the half disco ball onto the center of your bow.
Step 7: Cut out two rectangles of foam core and bend each one in half to make stands for the bow. Hot glue one to each side on the back of the bow.
You did it! Now you can display your DIY pink disco bow in your favorite spot. You might have to make another one because it’s so cute!
