I blame TikTok for my new found resin obsession. While scrolling through all the DIY videos you can find on there, I came across some fun resin ideas. Of course I had to give resin casting a try after that! Lucky for me, right around the time I decided to try out resin crafting, Color Pour Resin by American Crafts came out with a new line of resin molds, colorants, and additives like sprinkles, glitter, and shell flecks. They were kind enough to send me a box of goodies to experiment with. This DIY glitter resin unicorn comb is just the latest creation in my resin crafting experimenting.
No, this isn’t a comb for unicorn hair, but a real life usable comb that I think any girl would love to have! And the colors and irridescent glitter inside remind me of all things unicorn.
DIY Glitter Resin Unicorn Comb:
- Color Pour Resin
- Color Pour Resin Opaque colorant in dark pink, orange, and turquoise
- Irridescent glitter
- Comb mold
- 3 paper cups
- Popsicle stick
- Syringe or measuring cups use just for crafting
The biggest key to using resin is to make sure that the colors are mixed in a 1 to 1 volume ratio so that it sets up correctly. For this comb I mixed around 1/8 cup each of the resin and hardener in a paper cup with a popsicle stick for 4 minutes. Once fully mixed, I divided the colors evenly into the three paper cups and added two drops of each colorant to the different cups to make up pink, orange, and turquoise resin. Then I swirled in a pinch of irridescent glitter.
Next, I started at one end of the comb mold and poured in the pink resin until it came about 1/3 of the way down. Then I added the orange resin, the turquoise resin, and finally a bit more pink resin. Then I used the popsicle stick to swirl the colors together slightly to create a gradient swirl.
Now it was time to wait 24 hours for the resin to cure and get hard.
After 24 hours, I was able to unmold the comb. It was still a little soft and flexible at this point, but a few days later the resin had fully cured and the comb was able to be used!
Wouldn’t these be fun to make for gift for a Unicorn birthday party gift bag? Or maybe a fun spa day pamper party to go along with these DIY unicorn soap bars? There are so many reasons to make a fun DIY glitter resin unicorn comb!

How much resin in ml did you use for the whole comb?

I have no idea honestly. I just mixed up a small cup of it and then used the extra in my other jewelry molds. You could always fill the mold with water and then pour it into a measuring cup to see how much you need.
